The Jenny Slade ScholarshipThe Jenny Slade Scholarship Trust Fund (ABN 26 606 626 837) is in memory and recognition of the contribution of Jenny Slade to innovation and the establishment and promotion of networks within the local government community services field. Jenny was Manager of Community Services of the former City of Springvale in Victoria from 1984 until her untimely death in 1990. Applications are sought from officers employed for a minimum of two years in local government community services anywhere in the Commonwealth of Australia to:-
at the State, National or International level. The scholarship is for the betterment of local government community services in Australia and could cover such topics as integrated community planning, community participation models, community indicators and best practice benchmarking, service innovation, advocacy, or other areas that will advance community development in local communities. Each scholarship recipient will be required to prepare a 2,000 word article for publication on the LGCSAA website, and to address the Local Government Community Services Association of Australia and relevant Local Government Professionals seminars throughout Australia for a period of twelve months on the completion of their award. The method(s) of publication will vary and will include paper and electronic (web based) formats. The scholarship has been funded through donations from the Slade Family, Municipal Association of Victoria, various municipalities including the City of Greater Dandenong, the Local Government Community Services Association of Australia and individuals. The scholarship has a maximum value of $4,000 and is administered by a trust. Donations of $2.00 and over to the Trust Foundation are tax deductible. The Trustees shall appoint and constitute a selection committee which shall consider all applications and make recommendations to the trustees, whose decision is final.
